This will take about an hour.

Switch off System Restore - you can re-start it if you choose to when your computer is clean.

Install the free version of SUPERantispyware http://superantispyware.com Update it and run a full scan.

Install ccleaner http://ccleaner.com - run the ccleaner and the registry scans and delete what they find but repeat the registry one until nothing is detected.

Reboot and job done.

I'd also recommend you install a good anti-virus program like avast home edition http://avast.com

and another good anti-spyware program is spybot search and destroy http://safer-networking.org

I had this virus on my laptop.

First of all, please tell me you have vista.

If not, you better have some restore points.

Alright if you do. goto one, what this will do is rank your computer to an older time.

So open it, and press OK on each question, then your computer will restart.

if this does not work.

this might fix a tiny bit of it.

Ctrl + Alt + Delete

this is a application located in windows thats named "Task manager", it can help you get out of certain files if your stuck, and probably remove some viruses..

this virus you have is harmful, it tells you that your computer has 15 severe trojans located on your computer, but its false.

so, now goto your processor in Task Manager, and see if anything suspicious like the Antivirus 2008 is located inside there.

if so, end the task

Now we need some anti-virus.

What i suggest is AVG free

it can be downloaded there.

Alright when your done installing it, run a FULL COMPUTER SCAN, it will hopefully quarantine all the viruses you have located in your C:/ desktop or anywhere else

now after this is removed

goto your c:/ goto your program files

and find "Antivirus 2008", now remove it. if that doesn't work. open the file and delete the DLL.files, if there is an exe file, delete that as well, either way. Which either one is deletable, delete it! this DLL files are ranked its what is helping it run!

after this, you should restart your computer.

if this does not work

do a system recovery

restart and press f10

"top keys, not the keywords"

choose any option you want, and your computer will be restored with all its data upset those harmful viruses.

I had the same problem. Go to www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal... follow the steps and it will remove the Vista Anti virus 2008 from your computer. I have Norton and it never detected it and I tried other programs and still to no avail. I did a search on Microsoft and found this site and it worked the 1st time for me.
