Okay I am a permanent resident in USA

Now, I am going to visit my parents in india via Jet airways on June 20st.

My dad booked my ticket but instead of using my married last name, he used my maiden last name!!!

But my new green card, driver's license and indian passport have my married last name on it.

But my old passport which expired yesterday has my maiden name.

Is there going to be a problem at the airport?

Are they going to let me board the plane?

What if I carried my marriage license? It has my both names

What do I do??????! Help ME??!!!!

  1. i would bring everything you have but make sure it is all in a very safe place because you really don't want to loose any thing.

and its only an airplane ticket its doesn't have anything to do with secuity so i don't think there will be a problem just tell the person handing you your boarding pass what your dad did and i see no reason why there would be an issue.

the airline got my first and last name spelled wrong and there wasn't a problem for me even though my ticket name didn't match my id name.

  2. Technically your ticket should be booked in the name that is on your passport or they can refuse you on your flight.

If you RECENTLY got married then bringing a marriage license will help but otherwise they can still refuse you on the flight. Best thing to do is call the airline and ask if they will accept you. If not then you can change the name on the ticket for a small fee

  3. I think as long as you carry your marriage license with you, you'll be ok. If anyone asks questions about it, just explain it calmly and I think they'll understand.

  4. Carry all of them - the new passport, the old passport, the marriage license.

Don't panic, especially since there is nothing you can do about it. When you check in, ask if they can change your ticket to reflect your current name. If the person you talk to says they can't, politely ask to speak to her supervisor. Keep asking - nicely - until they change it.

The only place it will really matter is at the ticket counter, where they compare the ticket to the passport. At customs, they only want to see the passport...

If you have all of the appropriate documentation, you should be fine.

  5. if you bring your marriage lisence and your old passport you SHOULD be fine.  Call a travel agent, or the airline to check though.  They'll be able to look up the rules on that.

    Good luck!
