I have three new fish and they keep on spitting out the food we give them?

Our last fish would eat the same food we're giving them, by the way they are goldfish and are all quite similar.

Hi There! Fish do this because they are filter feeders and cant swallow big chunks of food at a time thats why it is recommended that you crunch up the fish feed before you give it to your pet fish. Good Luck! -Lily Allen♥☻☺

The flakes are probably too big for their mouth and they're just nibbling.

It's normal for goldfish to do this.

ahhh. that is perfectly normal.  fish always spit out food when they eat.  it is very natural for them.

Fish do this. It doesn't mean they're not consuming the food you're giving to them. When a fish is eating the flaked food they only chew up some of the flakes in their mouths & spit whatever they can't initially swallow.

They're eating just fine.

its quite normal for goldfish to do this, you can try different food this wont harm them but the most important thing is to remove any food that dont get eaten. it will produce ammonia as it decays in the water.

just to add....

if the fish are over fed they will still mouth the food but more likely to spit it back out. dont over feed...
