  1. What is it you don't understand about the question? If we don't know where you're stuck, we can't help.

You're being asked whether the idea that the purpose of education is to bring student's to accept society's shared culture is right or not.

So think about what education is FOR, and whether that includes integrating individuals into society's shared culture.

Then explain what makes you say what you say.

  2. education system gives you the skills other than book smarts to function in society. Cooperation, conflict resolution, mores, folkways blah blah blah..

you should be able to work off that.

  3. Education is the play ground of future citizens and future culture. So education systems are highly valued in all cultures. China has shown a system and US has another. Mere information gathering is not the aim.

  4. Public education brainwashes children into believing what our political leaders want us to believe.  Is this a bad thing?  I didn't say it is or is not.  It definitely enables young children to grow and mature and integrate into our shared culture without making waves and asking questions that may "shake the norm".  For example;  when the use of stem cells in research was put on the ballet.  It was virtually impossible to find the exact wording and the "facts" of the issue.  You could find numerous accounts from the varying sides but the "facts" were virtually nonexistent.  We no longer read and think for ourselves.  We read and think what the author wants us to think.  We go to school and learn and grow into the adults our culture tells us to grow into.  We can no longer use religion to be morally responsible.  Without morals, rules, laws (whatever you choose) we would have complete chaos.  One could really argue you point both ways.  Why don't you think outside the box and think about this posed question and answer for yourself.

  5. SCHOOLS TEACH KIDS HOW TO TALK, WHAT TO VALUE, AND WHAT TO DO IN SOCIETY

    1) Schools reinforce Standard American English through drills and admonishments.  African American English (AAE) and the Southern White Vernacular English (SWVE) are weeded out and overtime students begin to SHARE a common language.  Lingua Franca = shared culture.

    2) Students are taught the history of our nation.  They learn about Washington, Lincoln, Thurgood Marshal, MLK, JFK, RFK, et al.  They (hopefully) will take a good measure of pride in that history and learn to SHARE some patriotism. Or at the very least a shared understanding of the events that shaped our country.

    3) They learn from each other.  Social abnormalities are weeded out through their daily interactions.  They learn the difference between acceptable behavior and dysfunctional behavior.  They learn whats profitable (socially, materially, whatever) and whats hazardous.  They develop a SHARED social conscience.
