  1. Yes, you should wear gloves to protect from athlete's' foot fungus, as well as the chemicals that should kill this and other potential microorganisms.  You should also read the labels of any chemicals that you use.  Federal law requires your employer to provide you with an M.S.D.S (material safety data sheet) for each chemical you use.  This 4+ page document will list any potentially harmful ingredients as well as possible effects of exposure to these products.  The M.S.D.S. will also list the recommended personal protective equipment (employer must pay for) to have while using the product, and what to do if you get any in your eyes, on your skin, accidentally swallow or breath the fumes.  There's one more thing:  make absolutely sure that you ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.  You should protect your eyes from almost every cleaning chemical known to man.  At the very least it will sting like h**l even if you get soap in your eyes.  At worst, you could lose your sight.  Be careful.  Even if you are only doing this a couple of times a week, it only takes one accident to cause a tragedy.

  2. Wear the gloves! Your hands will thank you in 20 years.

  3. wear gloves

As said you are dealing with germs in a bathroom Better safe than sorry.

  4. I would definitely wear the gloves. Besides what everyone else has mentioned above, you get a fungus under your nails from the mold and/or athlete's foot. It is very contagious. Also, if you work with harsh chemicals and no gloves, your hands will age faster with wrinkles.

  5. Yes, there are all kinds of bacteria and viruses and you could easily get an infection or worse. For instance Hepatitis can live in the dried form for up to 10 days! Of course, wear non-latex disposable gloves so you can toss them after each cleaning. You can order them in bulk online and they are going to protect your skin & health. Make sure you also have had a Tetanus shot within the last 7 yrs.

  6. I would wear gloves - you never know what kind of germs you can catch

  7. I would wear gloves to protect yourself from EVERYTHING!  Wearing gloves will protect your skin from harsh chemicals and prevent your skin from drying out.  Depending on the cleaner I use I'll wear a surgical type mask too.  I've gotten  a bit of chest congestion from harsh cleaning products before.  That darn soap scum is hard to beat sometimes!

  8. When I had to clean bathrooms in a big church I wore gloves. There is a lot of grems in there so I would wear them. I used lycal where every one touched.

  9. You should definitely wear gloves as a personal safety precaution.  Not only will you be working with chemicals which can irritate your skin, you also need to protect yourself from the potential of coming in contact with other people's body fluids, and potentially harmful bacteria or viruses that often go along with it.  Also, make sure that you properly remove and dispose of your gloves. What you'll do with them all depends on your workplace's rules and regulations.

  10. Yes!  I totally would wear gloves.  I was cleaning my bathtub with a pretty strong, but regular bathroom cleanser and didn't wear gloves.  I regretted it too.  The finger tips on four out of my five fingers on both hands had a slight chemical burn.  My finger tips were peeling and nothing could smooth them out.  I tried all kinds of lotions and even Vaseline.  Nothing worked and it was very bothersome.  Believe me, you should wear gloves.

  11. I would

chlorine in the bleach is a powerful killer(poison) of bacteria

and there is good bacteria on our skin!

I drink filtered water and have a filter on my shower

  12. I would ABSOLUTELY wear gloves when scrubbing up after strangers.  You never know what is in the those shower stalls  :p

Your nails will be nicer and so will your hands.

  13. Yes... always wear gloves regardless how many times you clean.  You may want to try my method.  I use an old plastic bristle broom to scrub down the tiled walls.  I even use it on the faucets as it doesn't scratch the surface and works well in every nook.  We have a hand held shower which helps me rinse the entire area with hot water.

  14. While it is not necessary, it is strongly encouraged to wear the gloves. The chemicals can cause some irritation to you skin, but, I think the bigger problem is the germs that are in the showers. There are many people who use them, who knows what they have. Also, its not the driest place, so there could be mold, mildew, etc. Wear the gloves for you own protection.
