looked everywhere for pillow cases or covers but they are not the right size. I need to cover a seat cushion that is 11.5 inches x 3ft 1inch and 4 1/4 inches thick. Can anyone think of a quick idea to cover these seats, my backup plan is to just use sheets and fold them around the pillow. Thanks!

  1. There is iron on hem tape that would help you make a cover for the cushion.  I've seen it at the grocery store, Walmart,

Michaels. and a fabric store.    If the seat cushion has a hard backing (like wood or plywood type thing), you could just staple the new fabic over the old.  Start in the middle of a lond side, staple once, then do the same on the opposite side, making sure the fabric is straight and taut.  Then do the middle of the short sides, then return to the long sides, and do one staple on either side of the first staple, always making sure the fabric  is smooth, straight and taut, then the other long side, do the same. Continue, working opposite  long sides, until you are about even with the short sides in distance to the corners.  Fold the fabric to make neat corners, then staple opposite corners.  Should be fine.

    Good Luck!

  2. A great way to fake it if your cushion is relatively box-shaped (which it sounds like it is) is to wrap it like a birthday present. Take your sheet (or fabric) and lay it out flat. Then place your cushion in the center, upside-down. Starting with the longer sides, bring both of those fabric edges together. If they overlap by a lot, you can cut off the excess. They only need to overlap by about an inch or two. Use safety pins, tape, hot glue, or fabric glue (depending on how permanent you want this) and attach them to each other down the entire length of the cushion. Now for the ends. You only need about 6 to 8 inches of fabric beyond the edge of the cushion, since it's only 4 1/4 inches deep, so cut off any excess. Flatten the fabric down over one of the exposed ends. Then fold the corners of the excess fabric down towards the cushion diagonally, so it looks like a cut off triangular envelope flap. Holding the folded over corner flaps down, fold the entirety of the excess fabric back over the side of the cushion and onto the underside (where the long original seam is). Glue or tack this in place and do the same for the other side. See my link for a picture.
