I have to do a literature review for my social work degree. I am not sure what order it should go in? Help?

I plan to do the lit.review on older people who have dementia and the day care they receive, and it has to be 4000 words long. Can anyone advise me of the best way to do it and the best order to do it in. I will be so grateful. Thanks

  1. Your first step is obviously to get into the literature databases - I would start with social work abstract and social services abstract.  For dementia you will also want to use some of the nursing and medical databases.  Your next task is to organize the articles you find (you might want to look at a dissertation - in fact I am sure there are many related to your topic and you can see how they did their lit review).  A lit review is NOT an annotated bib - it is a synthesis of the existing knowledge base.
