I have to fill flower beds with dirt. I need to know how to figure out how much dirt i will need.

they all are 8 ft. by 8 ft. different depths ranging from 6.5 in. to 14

  1. If you figure that your average depth is 10 inches then you'll need 55 cubic feet or 2.0  cubic yards or just over two pickup loads.


  2. Sorry, I don't think there is an easy answer to this one. You just have to buy/obtain as much as you think you need.

  3. Two cubic yards of well composted soil should do the trick. Try to get weed free dirt and mix with compost/peat moss/ & fertilizer to enjoy several years of easy care. It would be good to till and loosen the bottom of your beds to provide maximum root growth depth - a trick called double digging.
