  1. DO NOT go with blackberry. my mom has one and it is always freezing and the thing has problems. I would get a pda, i want one, but i cannot find one that i like. most of them are slow, complex or are not good for texting (exept the palm treo, very nice a little expensive though..). i would get the palm pilot

  2. I sell for Verizon so I am wondering how often he would want to open attachments and zoom in on them.  Most Window's based PDA have a neat program that lets you zoom in really easy.  With Verizon, we have a Samsung i760 that has it plus it all a touch screen with full qwerty slide out.  I know we had a law firm that wanted them because people could sign on it and be able to save the signature.

The new BB's are fantastic!  I had the Pearl and loved it.  We don't have much call for the Palm's unless they have software that only works with Palm.  I would suggest finding out specifically what he would like to do with it (like use it as a modem for his laptop, take pictures, watch videos, etc.) and then go to a store and see what fits best.  From your desciption, a newer cell phone would do his appointments and contacts.

  3. The BlackBerry device is a great device if you know how to use it. It is great at managing contacts and appointments. I have read of people having thousands of contacts on the device. And the great thing is it is a phone too.

If all he needs is contact management and appointments then any of the above will do. If he also wants e-mail then the BlackBerry is great for that. Have your boss look in to the BlackBerry 8800 or 8820 device. These are great devices for business users.

  4. First don't go with the Treo or the Motorola Q i have had three Q's and my dad has gone through 5 treo in a year.

    They are the worst.

I now have the Blackberry curve and I'm using it for personal use as a phone.  Business Email and Contacts and Calender.   I'm very impressed i did about 50 emails yesterday and 30 calls when i got home at 9 last night i had only used 30% of my battery.  Thats Really great!

Im just learning with alot of help from other users and Im so impressed by Blackberry.  I have the new Curve from VZW.

    Best of luck......

Also The guy Jeremy above me is who i have been learning from.
