  1. Hello,

Novacor is a French company which makes heart monitors. They have various monitors that can monitor the rhythm of the heart for various ifferent periods of time. My guess is that your doctor believes you may have a problem with the rhythm of the heart and this device is to try and diagnose this. Have you been having palpitations or blackouts? These are the two most common symptoms.

Most monitors are worn for 24hrs and are small boxes that are connected to either 3 or 5 electrodes stuck to the skin of your chest. You generally get them fitted and then take them away and do what normally do during the 24hrs and then bring the device back the next day for the data to be read. Some can record for 7 days and some can be activated by the patient when symptoms arise.

Most heart rhythm disturbances are entirely benign (>90%) some however are more serious and may require medication, a pacemaker, a procedure called an ablation or a device called a defibrillator. If you are in otherwise good health and have no personal or family history of heart problems however, the chances of anything serious is very low.
