I am freaking out! I have done it before and I HATED it! I was younger but still. Now I am over thinking it and I'm so scared! I'm 14 now and I think the first time I was maybe 11. Not sure. I think the part I am freaking out about the most is the not being able to eat breakfast. I always eat breakfast as soon as I wake up. What should I do so I don't freak? Please help me!!!

  1. You'll be fine i had to get it done all the time to check for stuff but its worse when your younger because they use a very small needle that irritates the skin now that your 14 they'll use a slightly larger one and it won't hurt at all and it will only take half as much time but seriouslysly dont worry i get them done at least 2 times a month and for a while once a week

  2. Remind yourself that "You are NOT going to die" because you didn't eat breakfast (if this was the case they would not be doing tests like this).  Also tell yourself "That this test will only take a few moments and then it will be over"  And personally from experience (I have had to get blood work all my life to monitor medication) - the needles don't really hurt.  Just take a deep breath before insertion and try to relax because the more tense your muscles are the more painful the insertion of the needle will be.  YOU WILL SURVIVE (I PROMISE)!! And YOU WILL BE FINE!!  Good Luck to you!!

  3. My daughter and I both had a lot of that kind of bloodwork this year.  The technicians have gotten so much better, you don't feel much.  Don't tense up, do shut your eyes and do take slow breaths.  Pop a snack bar in your bag before you go and you can munch as soon as they're done!

  4. It's not that bad at all i just had blood work done last week and had to fast for 10 hours. Just get yourself off tob ed and head for the hospital early in the morning and plan where your going to have brekfast after its over.

  5. I have blood work done every three months. I always get up and go strait to the lab. They open at 7 AM. Then I eat. If your lab is later just sleep in.
