I have to get braces tomorrow and do they hurt what color should i get what foods should i eat

ok im getting braces tomorrow and people are saying they hurt and other are saying they hurt only for a lil bit i just want to know lol umm also what colors should i get and i herd light colors stain fast but bright colors look bad idk what to do i was thinking white and light blue but i only need braces for the top set of my teeth not the bottoms
