Does the registration and the insurance have to be under the same name? AND- What do I do first, get it insured and then register it? Or register it and then insure it?

I'm in Suffolk County NY if that helps.

  1. register then insure

  2. You will have to get the car insured first. Online is a great place to shop for insurance and compare rates. Why would the owner not want to be insured on the car? Do you want to register it and have it insured in another person's name? This seems like something very strange or something is not right. I wouldn't want to register a car and not have it insured in my name.In order to go to the tax office and get registration, you will have to sow proof of insurance. The same goes for inspections as well if one is required in your state. I listed a site which has a lot of good information and where I found most of this information below. You cna get quotes there as well.
