  1. See youtube.com and search coach selby . . .

  2. I think [M]ariposa is absolutely right . . . that exercise explained is most effective!!  I got my splits exactly that way in about a year (and I was a "stiff" adult!).

Trying to force the splits can lead to muscle pulls that are not fun.  As great as it would be to get them fast, your safest bet would be to go gradually.  Assuming you are probably way younger than me, if you work on it consistently, it's possible you could get them sooner than a year.

I always refer to this article with split questions . . . but I did a lot of these stretches as well for the splits.

    Good luck!

  3. lunges help. so do butterflies.good luck!

  4. Honestly, forcing the splits really won't help. I promise. If you aren't naturally flexible then it can take up to a year to get the splits. Having someone push you into the position against your body's will is horribly painful, quite traumatic, and will injure you in the long term. On the other hand, working every evening to get a little bit further down will help, is perfectly healthy, and will be so much more rewarding.

Here's what I did. I am naturally unflexible:

Every day I stretched a lot, and when I was learning new things, such as the splits, I would first go down as low as possible with absolutely no pain, take a few deep breaths, then as I exhaled I would go down a bit further, so I felt a stretch, take a few more deep breaths, then as I exhaled I would go down even further and hold this for 10-20 seconds. I got my splits in less than a year.

    Good luck!

  5. My Siblings take tye Kwon Doe and they have to spread their legs out and their instructor pushes them down every time to help make them more flexible.

    painful, i know...

    but it works!
