am i allowed to go to court without a attorney ("representing my self") after writing down on a piece of paper at the pre-trial that i am going to hire one?

  1. Unless you are facing jail time, an attorney is not necessary. If you are looking at jail time and you show up to court without one. The court will appoint an attorney for you.
