  1. Like Jason said, if it is for an auto insurance citation, if you didn't have insurance when you were stopped, it won't help to have it now.

If you DON'T have insurance - I sure wouldn't DRIVE to court! Catch a ride or a taxi or some other means of transportation.

I could just see it now - at court paying a no insurance ticket and the Judge asks you "How'd you get here today?" and you say "I drove....." - I think they would PROBABLY put you in jail!

In our part of TX, they would at LEAST tow your car and impound it until you got insurance to get it OUT!

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  2. If its auto insurance, best case is a large fine and license suspension and worst case is jail. Don't underestimate the possibility of #2, the courts take a VERY dim view on this type of thing.

I will assume if you don't want to pay for auto insurance you likely don't want to pay for a lawyer. My advice would be find the money and get one.

  3. It depends, you have to go to court for what?  If this was for Auto insurance, and you didn't have insurance on the day you got the ticket, you will be fined regardless of whether you get it now or not.  If you still do not have it your registration will be suspended until you get it and your Drivers License may be suspended.

If this was for Workers Compensation for your business, then you may be OK to get it now depending on the state.  Here in NM, if you have it in force by the time you go to court, then you are fine, if you do not have it, then your license will be suspended and you could be fined up to $1,000 a day for not having it.

    Good luck to you!
