  1. You normally have your gallbladder removed by keyhole surgery, so there isn't a big scar. My best advice is to go to a private hospital if you can, and avoid the public health system (if you live in Australia) like the plague. Most people have no further problems afterwards, provided they stick to a low fat diet. However, they don't tend to tell you that about a third of people do have problems afterwards. Make sure they are honest with you, and really harass them to tell you what's what. I had mine removed in the public health system, and I'm sure it was the work experience boy who did it.
