  1. Do a bit each day. Don't overdo yourself and plan to do it all at once because it's a strain. It's easy to pack up your bedroom, I've done it, but like you say staying focused is a problem. If a radio gets you motivated, have one on, if it distracts you, get it packed away. No televisions on.

    When you go to pack some stuff away, consider what you need. Pick up one thing, will you need it before your room is unpacked or is it minor and can be packed away. Think about that, the last thing you need is to pack it all away, and then realise that you need something in one of the boxes.

    Also, get a marker and write on cardboard boxes (if you're using them), what is in them. Such as 'Books' or 'School c**p'.

    Do say two hours a day. Pace yourself. Do half an hour, have a break, watch TV, read a book, then when your ready do another half hour. Just plan to get a few hours done each day, and plan before you start packing away, what you will pack each day e.g.;

    Monday;

    Books

    CD's

    DVD's

    Tuesday;

    School Stuff

    Wedsnesday;

    Electronics

    etc, etc.

  2. There's a few things you can do.

    You can either do it by section, either by doing it a corner at a time, then take a little break in between.

    OR

    You can do it by thing.  Like go in your room with a box and say, "I'm going to pack all my books" and don't stop until all your books are packed.  Take a break and then go in and pick something else, like knick Knacks.  Pick something each time and go around your room taking each thing that fits into that category.  Once everything in that category is packed, take a much needed break and go back in for another.  See how many categories you can get in a day!

    OR

    Set a timer!  Do an hour on, a half hour to an hour off, and then keep doing it this way, you WILL get a lot done!  Get a kitchen timer, set it for the one hour  mark and get to work.  When the timer goes off, you're done for an hour.  Set the timer again for an hour, when the timer goes off, break time is OVER!  Back to work, timer is set to an hour, an hour on, an hour off!

    Save the things you're using on a daily basis for last, the clothing you're wearing all the time, your personal items, save those for last.

    Make sure to mark what's in each box, this way you know what's in there and won't be frantically searching for things when it's time to unpack.

    I would also pack like items together.  Keep all books together, keep all knick knacks together, all room accessories together, all clothing together, all shoes together, etc.  This way you won't be stressing out when you're trying to find something going through tons of different boxes.  You'll know what's in each box, you'll know if you're looking for a top, that there's certain boxes with clothes, and only those boxes have clothes in them.  You can even do boxes with just tops, and some with pants and jeans, etc.  Make it as easy as possible on yourself.

    Also, you can invite some friends over and make it a packing party!  Even if it's one other friend, it will make the time go by faster and if it's you and a friend and you're in there packing for hours, it won't feel that way because chances are you'll be talking and joking, etc.  Get a pizza, drinks, and some snacks, and you and another friend or two can go around your room and pack up and have it done in NO time!  I'm sure they wouldn't mind helping you out if they're available.

    Just remember to wrap the breakables in either newspaper or bubble-wrap, and don't make the boxes too heavy to carry, you don't want the bottom breaking open either when you're carrying them!

    I hope some of these help and that you get everything done in time!
