  1. Smith & Wesson makes several hand held theft deterents.

  2. Yes. An alarm system is useful, but sometimes the best deterrent is the flashing light on the dashboard.

Of the cars I have the ones that came with an alarm seem to be better compared to after market alarms.

Another poster recommended the Lojack system. The Lojack is somewhat good at what it does, but it is not an alarm system. LoJack is a Stolen Vehicle Recovery System that allows vehicles to be tracked by police after being stolen.

If you don't notify the police within a short time of the cars disappearance they may not be able to find it. I live in Los Angeles, and about two weeks ago a neighbors car was stolen sometime overnight. It had Lojack, but when he called the police they were unable to track it and told him that it had probably already been disassembled and / or was in Mexico. They told him that unless he calls within an hour of it being stolen there is only a slight chance of it being recovered

LoJack Early Warning is a extra feature that alerts the owner by phone, e-mail or alpha pager if the protected vehicle has been moved without authorization. A key fob sends a signal to the system to disable the warning as long as the owner is carrying it.

    Good luck.

  3. The only alarm system that is worth the cost is a LoJack system and this system is 1000 times better than any other system out....
