I have to prepare a 10 minute teaching practice for tomorrow?

so basically i have to teach vowel sounds to elementary school kids... how can I make it entertaining? I am not allowed to use cd's or any other audio devices. I'm really nervous coz it's my first teaching practice.... any ideas? Thanks!

  1. You could show some pictures of animals (with the name spelled underneath in large letters) that have vowels sound one way some of the time but different other times.  For example: elephant and zebra - the "e" is pronounced differently.

    You might also be able to incorporate the kids' names into showing how different vowels can sound.  Ethan vs Elizabeth, for instance.

    This is the Florida Center for Reading Research. When the site opens, click on student centered activities (on the right side).

    They have lots of good ideas organized by topics (rhyme, alliteration, phonemeic awareness, fluency, comprehension, syllabication, etc.) and grade level. They are in a pdf file. You can find the activity you want and print what you need. Easy, easy, easy:)
