  1. Run fast.

  2. Okay, calm down...the BIGGEST mistake you can do on this is to start out too fast for too long. IT's not like a race...so just start out a little faster and then gradually settle down in your pace. Make sure you work your arms, if your arms move more so will your legs. And, you want your legs to have longer strides(more distance in less time and effort), so make sure you work your arms. If your arms don't move neither do your legs. And, push yourself. Make sure that your breathing is also aligned.....in your nose and out your mouth. Try to breathe as slowly as you can, no matter what your body is telling you to do(huff and puff) Your muscles need oxygen and breathing slowly is better for them. ANd, most importantly remember to drink plenty of water 2-4 hours before you run. In the same hour, try not to drink too much or you will get water cramps.

    And, have fun!

Good Luck! You will do fine!

  3. Well, break up the run into 4 sections.  Focus on the first 1/4 mile, and make sure your time is around 2:27.  Like one of the other answers already said, the biggest mistake you can make is starting out too fast.  Make sure your second mile is also on goal pace, around 2:29.  The third lap is the most difficult lap mentally.  It is also the most important one!  Keep it around 2:32 or lower, and on the last lap, just bust your butt out!  Hope I helped!
