I have to ship a record to Norway. How do I have to ship it?

I have the record packaged in a card board box for protection. With the packaging it's about 13x13 in. and weighs 19 oz. I'm using USPS. Can I put the shipping label directly on the cardboard box or do I have to put the record in a special USPS box or envelope and then put the shipping label on that?

  1. You can put the label right on the box.  If the box is 13x13, you shouldn't have a problem fitting the label onto it, since the plastic sleeve that holds it is only 7x12 in.

The only times you'd need to put it in a special USPS box is if you wanted to send it by flat-rate mail, where you can ship things in a special box and be charged a fixed amount (regardless of weight).  However, since the package only weighs 19oz, you won't save any money doing that.

FYI - Here are the shipping options and prices for a 19oz box going to Norway:  http://ircalc.usps.gov/IntlMailServices....

  2. Go ask the post office.
