I am white female, 35 years old and scared to death. I will be spending time in a Kansas county jail, RCPD, to be exact. Can I bring anything?

  1. Mostly boredom. Not particularly good food. Breakfast is real early. Call the jail and ask what you can bring. Usually, you can bring a few personal photos, a Bible, maybe some books. Legal papers. No food or other consumables. And of course the obvious things you shouldn't bring to a jail. Ask them how much underwear you can bring. No underwire bras. Put on clean clothes right before you report. They'll be crammed in a bag or basket for five days and will stink if they're not clean. Bring some cash, maybe $20 for commissary for snacks, instant soups, drink mix, and toiletries beyond the minimum they'll give you. You won't be there long enough to be put to work, so be prepared to occupy your time. Keep in mind, five days might essentially mean three or even two. A lot of jail will let you report before midnight and release just after midnight and will count those few minutes on each end as a day and may give you two for one credit, if they're crowded. Ask them. They really don't want you around there any longer than it take to lawfully execute your sentence.

  2. OH you don't need to bring nothing. The jail will provide you with everything. You will get 3 meals a day, cable tv in your cell, and money to spend at the jail 24/7 store. Jail's in the US are a laugh and are often called baby jails.

  3. I am an officer and work in a prison. I spend a lot of time transporting inmates to and from county jails, so here is the correct answer.

show up on your "in" date on time!!!!

bring nothing with you except a photo ID. if you bring anything in, it will not be allowed to bring it into the jail with you.

you will be searched and stripped out of your civillian clothes and issued jail clothing.

most jails have 2 people per cell, and rec times are based upon your levels.

you may be allowed to have a jail job, such as in the kitchen or library.

but based on your short stay there, just 5 days, its highly unlikely you will get a job. most of your time will be in the recreation yard or cell block area. lot of jails have a community area for inmates where they can play card games or such, and have TV's for you to watch.

it will not be a hard time, just go with the flow and do what you are told to do and you will have no problem.......

  4. No, they won't let you bring anything. The can't make any money like that. you have to buy it all from them! You can expect a bunch of nasty women who have been in there too many times jumping around and hollering like monkey's. If you can try and get commisary as soon as possible. Don't eat too much of their food. They put chemicals in them. Also they will take your DNA from the cups. 5 days shouldn't be so bad though. Just try and stay out of their way and read stuff. Maybe find one nice person to chat with to help pass the time!

EDIT: I see I 2 thumbs down for what is complete truth!

There are many different living arrangements there are cell blocks that house smaller numbers for extreme cases then there is general population which has anywhere from 8-15 per block. Not all of the people there will be bad but the majority will be returning offenders. Trust your instincts, don't trust people! Oh and they will take your DNA you will see a sign posted about it! Good luck darlin'! It ain't all bad.

  5. You will get very friendly with your bull d**e cell mate.

    Have fun!

  6. no you cant bring anything, ah dont worry its only county, the biggest thing is boredom...doin time....

  7. 5 days of boredom and bullsh*t. Be a good time to get in shape, kick any habits you might have, and  to detox. I could go five days without eating in jail

  8. You'll be sexually voilated, then you'll be bored.

run away, haha! become a bandit!

  9. I have worked in a jail and was a police officer/Deputy for 5 years. Think of the 5 days as a boring vacation. The 5 days will be boring and seem like 2 weeks. Dont bring anything except a calling card and maybe $10.00 with you, because it will be put in a property locker till you leave. The jail will provide what they think you need. The calling card can be used to make personal (Recorded) phone calls and money can be used to purchase jail supplies like shampoo.

    Good Luck...You'll be fine.

  10. No, you can't bring anything in except yourself.

    Good luck!

With your time you can.... read, write, think, draw....

  11. no internet no soap operas be glad it is only 5 days sounds like you got off easy

  12. People

  13. Look the wrong way at the wrong inmate and you will be punched.

Say the wrong thing to the wrong inmate and you will be punched.

You had better not look or talk to another inmate or you will be beat down.

  14. Most 5 day sentences are served as a boring vacation. You cannot take things with you. (call ahead on this). Working is not likely for the short term prisoner. Bad food and not much of it. Your sentence was given to get your attention. Most short-timers sit in their cell for all but one hour per day.
