I have to spray my cat, and it hates getting sprayed. I need help!?

Question

First of all, I just got a new cat and am I asking a lot of questions, so thanks for all the answers!

Secondly, I have a black cat named Mr. B (B stands for "Bigglesworth", like from the Austin Powers movies and also stands for "black") and lots of white things show up in his fur (the previous owner informs me that it's not dandruff). I have to spray my cat with a rehydrating spay. It absolutely hates the spray, but loves me! Is there anything I can do to spray the cat, without having it be angry with me?

My cat spends most of its time in my room, and always wants me to pet it. He usually doesn't really want to be left alone, but the minute I sprayed him, he left. I called him back and sprayed him again. This went on for three times. Now he refuses to come back. So how can I spray him without having him dislike me? I'm thinking either give him treats after every spray, or do it while he sleeps.

first lesson of having a cat- do not ever bother him/ her while (s)hes sleeping or eating. So i recomend putting some in your hand and pet it throug his body. or spray on a towel and wipe trough him.

If you have to spray him with re-hydrating spray I'm guessing his skin is dry? If so instead of spraying him witch he doesn't like try healing from the inside with flax seed oil works great or ask your vet what fatty acid they recommend also you could take him to a groomer an get a good bath. brushing will also help .

put the spray on a soft cloth and 'stroke' it across him, this will be much more enjoyable for you and mr b. a water spray is a good way to train your cat if he's scratching furniture or getting up on kitchen counter tops etc as cats usually hate getting wet, so it's hardly surprising he hates it!

Put the spray on a towel and wipe it through his coat or spray it on a brush and brush it into his coat.
