I have to submit a letter in writing why I took off for 2 weeks?

My fiancé was shot in the head last week. We took him off of life support last week. I have to submit a letter in writing why I took off for 2 weeks

Tell tem etzactly what happened and tell them you have been a nervous wreck and was barely able to function.

I'm guessing this is for a job.  Just tell them what happened and if it's a problem and they fire you then get a lawyer.  Though I hope you at least called them and told them that you wouldn't be in.  If you didn't do that then not sure there is much you can do.

Tell the truth and indicate that if necessary you can substantiate your statement by a hospital and/or police report./
