  1. I have to say that the School House Rock videos are amazing many kids find things easier to remember and under stand when it is sung i still know all of the preamble to the constitution from hearing the song from School House Rock and I listened to it last seven years ago.

  2. I had my kids rewrite the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights  in "kids' words".  We studied why the founding fathers felt the way they did and I had them do this as group work as their assessment.  This was a middle school group and I was really impressed with their work! It was better than I had hoped!

  3. You could do something interactive, like dramatically take away their "rights" for a short time (no recess, no talking, no bathroom, make them share one chair or desk, take away their pencils, accuse them of something they haven't done and tell them they will have some kind of punishment, etc.)  Discuss why these things are not fair, and what rights they would want to have in a classroom, e.g. the right to be treated humanely.  You can use that to help them understand why the US wanted a bill of rights.  You could make up a classroom "Bill of Rights" together.

  4. What grade level/age are the kids?  "Younger kids" is vague and subjective.  That could mean 4th graders, 1st graders, 8th graders, 6th graders, etc.  The approach you take depends on the age/grade level and the intelligence of the students.  Are they advanced students, average, challenged, etc?   As a teacher, I take all these factors (and more) into consideration before planning lessons.  We need more information to answer the question properly.
