  1. its okay to be scared. but we all have to get over our fears. listen to an ipod or read a book or watch a movie. or better just take a nap. something to get your mind off of it. i get freaked out sometimes too but i get over it because i really want to go to the place that i am traveling to. with the type of security we have today after 9-11 there is no way some one could get through. YOU CANT EVEN BRING KNITTING NEEDLES!!!!!! its getting ridiculous but it also keeps us safe. HAVE FUN IN PARIS!

  2. Medication may be a good idea, this time: have a word with your doctor...

But really, it's about gradually getting a handle on the relative risks in life.

100 people a day die prematurely on America's roads:

if you can face or even drive cars, you've got your fears out of proportion for planes.

It's a little macabre to mull over, if "How am I likely to die?" is a new thought, but the statistics below can be useful.

Plane Crashes are nowhere. Terrorism is nowhere...

  3. don't sit by the window.

  4. Its ok just relax pretend the 9/11 never happened every summer i go to india and the plane ride is 28 hours or more just bring a book candy stuff like that!

  5. Don't worry! Just think of the great time you are going to have in Paris and on the wat back, how much fun you had. Talk to the people beside you, read, listen to music, watch movies or even sleep, depending on what time your flight is!

I am also scared when i go on planes, especially after 9/11 but travelling by plane is the safest form of transport. Routes are carefully monitored and think of all the well qualified and skillful people involved in getting that plane to and from its destination. Even if something does goes wrong, which is unlikely, there are well organised plans to keep everyone safe.

What's the point in putting a dampner on your holiday by worrying about something that you can't control? If something is going to happen, it will happen whether you worry or not. But this does not mean that something is going to happen! Take a look at the link Pedestal42 gave ^^. Travelling by plane isn't even there! And as for terriosts, well they are a fear for everyone, but terriosts do not only hijack planes. They can be anywhere - in shops, trains, buses etc but this does not stop us from living our lives. Just enjoy yourself and try not to worry so much! Most times when i am going on a plane excitement takes over my fear because i am so excited about going on holiday and when coming home i'm excited to see family, friends and my own bed!

    Have a good time!

  6. Get some good music, relax, make sure you have dramamine ready and pepto bismo, then take some niquil before you leave!:]

  7. on a plane i am only scared going over water, but you could listen to your fave CD or do something that you enjoy and remember there is only a 1 in 11million chance of crashing you have a better chance of getting in a car accident on the interstate

  8. If the plane goes down make a committment to yourself to not freak out. Act like its no big deal and order a drink. You will be the coolest guy on the plane right before you die.

  9. I know that traveling by plane in these times can be frightening, but the best thing to remember is how much of a pain airport security is now. They check everyone thoroughly and take no chances. When I was seven, they pulled me aside twice, once because I had sequins on my shirt that were made of metal, and the second time because they thought my coin purse look suspicious (it just had a lot of coins in it). And when my mother was recovering from viral meningitis (a dangerous infection of the brain, she could hardly move), they made her get up and out of the wheelchair to walk through security. And we don't even look like the stereotypical terrorist!

And to help with anxiety, make sure you have plenty of time at the airport to get to your flight.

Listen to music, read or watch a movie, and take a motion-sickness pill. Anything to get your mind off where you are.

  10. Get a doctor to prescribe a sedative.

Or go find a psychologist to take you through desensitization therapy.  You'll gradually get exposed to all things aviation, until you get used to them.

    Or take a boat instead.

  11. flying in a plane is waay safer than a car. and for motion sickness use gravol
