I have to write a short story on "Ambition"?

I have to write a short story for English at school, reflecting on the theme of "Ambition".

I was thinking of basing my story about a girl who persues to become a fashion designer, and succeeds due to her ambitious flare... is this a good or bad idea?

If you have any suggesstions please share them with me! I really want to do well on this task!

How long do you have to write it? if you have a few days to do the research why not do a story on the lack of ambition shown by  people is today's society.

edit- compare people of 2008 to people of ....... lets say 1950

points of topic could be

-education

-civic duty

-government involvement

etc
