  1. Most Native Americans can be considered walking history. This is my opinion.  The stories, legends and the art of story telling are traits that are passed down.  I guess I would first start by giving a brief description of what it means to be a Native American vs being 1/16 Native American.  Quite often the difference is that the Native American is very connected to their history, often live on a reservation and participate in traditional spiritual ceremonies and arts.  The Native American knows the history and uses the wisdom and lessons and values learned as a guide for their own lives.  The art of story telling still remains an art today and yes the history is amazing and astounding. Good luck.  Suggest looking at the history of Crazy Horse, Lakota People and Culture, Blackfeet, South Dakota.  Hope this helps some.

  2. If you examine the history of America, the Indians played a very prominant role.  Now, they are a nearly extinct race and they're significantly less involved in national affairs.  They havn't changed their culture too much, but they aren't really walking history because they no longer migrate, they don't worship the way they used to (most are christians now).  So have they really held on to their culture to make them walking history? No.  However, they are a surviving race.  That's the best I can do for you.  Sorry if that's not enough.
