Question:

I have tons of basil what else

besides making a pesto sauce? Any good ideas?

  1. Make basil chutney.

    Recipe is here:

    1 cup basil leaves,

    1 small onion.

    1 clove garlic

    Ginger as you desire.

    fry all these with little bit of tamarind and red chillies separately.

    Also fry bengal gram (2 spoons) and urad dal(half spoon)

    Mix all together to make a chutney and this can be eaten with rice or any tiffen items,


  2. 1.basil leaves can be a lettuce substitute.

    2.you can probably find some herb bread or breadstick recipes online. 3.you can dry the basil and save it or

    4.chop and mix with a  little water , place in ice cube  traysand     freeze. When frozen  place cubes in ziploc freezer baggies. 1 cube =  a Tbsp.in whatever recipe you want.

    5.layer  sliced mozzarella, sliced tomatoes,whole basil leaves and drizzle  w/olive oil. add salt and pepper  if u want .  

                                                                                

  3. Make a stack of leaves, roll them up like a cigar and slice across to make a chiffonade. Perfect for Bruschetta and fresh tomatoes are in season right now.

  5. make some spagetti sauce and can it... you could make some really good salads....

    I would go onto foodnetwork.com and type in basil and you will get a plethora of recipes!

  6. Fold a few leaves into an omelet with chopped tomatoes and a white cheese.  Maybe some onions, mushrooms, and black olives if you're feelin' froggy.

  7. Bundle it with string, hang it upside down someplace cool and dark, and in a few weeks you can take off the dry leaves and use the dried basil in everything - salads, sauces, etc.

  8. Dry it got future use!
