  1. Recycling uses more energy than it saves.  I burn those plastic bags in my burn barrel.

  2. The Sherman public Library use to take bags. They use them to put book in for people who are checking out books.

  3. The Westminster Senior Center on Westminster Blvd, 1 block East of Beach Blvd always needs these bags.

  4. Walmart recycles them

  5. Most of the big grocers in my area have a bin near the door.

  6. The Jewel grocery store in Chicagoland has a bin near front door for bags

  7. Why not keep them and take them with you when you shop, that way you can keep reusing them. You only need to replace one when it breaks which is rare. You needn't be embarrassed about it, infact I work in a shop and I am embarrassed FOR the people who ask for a bag to carry milk in. Yes that's right, milk that has a HANDLE :) Just keep keep all the bags from that specific shop and take them.

Like a couple of people suggested, you can reuse them for indoor waste paper baskets, but that's only giving them one extra use before they're thrown out. :)

  8. I assume you mean plastic bags. My grocery store collects old bags in special recycling bins at the store. But I use them for home waste basket liners instead of buying plastic waste basket liners. As long as they end up in a land fill or other waste disposal facility, they are not an environmental problem. It is only a problem if you throw them on the ground so they become litter. That is illegal but people do it any way.

  9. We save them then give them to thrift stores, second hand stores, consignment centers and the like.  They're always needing plastic bags.

  10. Walmart has bins just inside the door for you to put them in.

I use them to line waste baskets so I don't have to touch the garbage inside when emptying them.  Just grab them by the handles and away it goes.

  11. The Sprouts in Avondale which is on Dysart and Mcdowell by Kohl's has a box in the front of the store where you can turn in your plastic bags for recycling.
