  1. True enough, lower frequencies tend to give greater distances for radio wave propagation.

Every technology usually has pros and cons.

The digital 5.8 and 1.9 GHz digital phones usually have more features and better voice quality due to digital processing.

They often provide better conversation privacy due to frequency hopping techniques.

Whereas 900 MHz phones were more susceptible to eaves dropping and listening in by people with radio scanners or other 900 MHz phones.

Dect 6  digital phones operate in the 1.9 GHz band and now offer encryption that gives total privacy and is not prone to interference like 2.4 and 5.8 phones are susceptible to (from WiFi signals and other phones).

DECT6 phones (1.9 GHz) will probably give you better range than the 2.4 and 5.6 GHz phones.

  2. You are right! 5.8G or DECT are no better than 900Mhz as far as range is concern and can't perform any better than that.

However the DECT phones may be more immune to noise as it used digital transmision.
