Question:

I have tried re-formatting my HP laptop and it is pretty much impossible as far as i can tell plz help?

i used to have a dell laptop and this was easy to reformat with a cd containng a OS setup eg windows xp but when i try it with my new HP laptop it comes up with stuff about i do not have permission to change partitions my HP laptop has vista home premium on it and i just wanted to know if HP just had some sort of block on re formatting

  1. You need to be a bit clearer as to what you're trying to format.


  2. Because Vista has more security features you will need to be the administrator So you need to set properties for this and also HP may not be fully 100% IBM compliant and may need their front end to utilize all hardware installed. Are you formatting from within Windows or on boot up? XP and Vista are Not compatible.

  3. Can you be little more specific, what do you mean by "it is pretty much impossible as far as I can tell"?


  4. Its really easy to format a device. Give us some more info as to why your having difficulties. Any error messages?
