ive been snowboarding for about about 3 or 4 years now. i wont lie, im pretty good. i can carve and everything. and i dont mean this is a cocky way! lol

so last year, my friends taught me how to jump. i could land most of the jumps. but ive ALOT of trouble landing them this season. ive had quite a few bad falls aswell.. so ive began to lose my confidence over jumps.

today, i went boarding, and the first jump i hit, i fell pretty badly. and it was a tiny jump! so for the rest of the day, i was hesitant to hit any rails, boxes or anything. but last year, i was hitting jumps that were much bigger and i could land them..

is something wrong with me?

and pointers?

  1. no u just have to stay confident and avoid leaning backwards and wat most people do is just let the jump send them off if thats wat ur doing u might wanna jump a little urself right at the launch and pull ur knees up to the point where u feel like u can grab ur board so that ur board is paralelle with the ground and stomp the landing and ride away clean

  2. When I teach, there are two common reasons that people have problems landing jumps.

    1. Leaning back too far. Many jumps have a "lip" at the top that will throw you back and cause you to be leaning back when you try to land which is VERY difficult because you cannot get your board underneath you. In this case, your board will slip out from under you. Make sure you are over the top of your board and actually lean forward if there is a big kicker lip on the jump.

    2. Not landing with your board under you - you may be to one side of your board when you land. Make sure you get that board under you even if you are off to one side. Get ready to weight one edge to get your balance back right after you land.

    Good Luck

  3. first off start off small.   keep your body centered over your board and DO NOT LEAN BACK, which people usually have a tendacy of doing (i know i do).  start off slow, dont go to fast.  Before you actually leave the jump, give yourself a little pop off and keep your knees bent.  Then spot your landing.  Make sure you stomp your landing, or else you might mess up your knees.

Try watching some vids and watch their technique.

I started off by jumping off some bumps going down a regular trail.  And dont be afraid when people are watching you, dont forget they were at your level before.   h**l, you could just ask them to help you, im sure they'd give you some pointers.

  4. your scared and you know it. Try at least not falling so hard.  I've been snowboarding for 11 year and I fall too. I just know how to fall in a way that doesn't hurt.

My advice is get pissed and keep trying.  If your falling don't fight it. Make sure your fall right so you don't kill yourself.  Think about it like a vert skateboarder.  the first thing they do is learn how to fall.
