  1. if I drink a soda or have chocolate before I go to bed, i won't be able to sleep.

    have you tried taking sleep medication?

    you could try listening to an ipod (calming music) or the radio

    just try to relax and think about anything other than why you're not falling asleep

  2. I usually take really deep long breaths. Are you you stressed about anything? Try to clear your mind.

  3. find a new matress

  4. Some good answers but here's another.Don't drink caffeine.Keeps you up.Stress can as well.Take a warm shower before bed.Maybe warm milk,about 8 ounces might do the trick.Try relaxing as well ,clear your mind ,breath deeply,keep noise to a minimal.GOOD NIGHT.

  5. if you stop listening to mp3 players, on the cell phone, or watching tv right before bed that might help.

  6. I would take 25mg of benadryl- an over the counter allergy medicaton that is also used for sleep deprivation.

    take it about 45 minutes before you go to bed and it should help you out.

    stay away from soda or sugar 2 hours before bedtime also.

  7. how old are you?I have that problem also when i was in highschool. in fact, my sister consulted a doctor since she was working in the hospital. but since i am only 16 that time, consulting a psychiatrist will not be appropriate. i am also graduating that time, the doctor said maybe i'm just confused with the course i'm going to take in college, if I'm going to receive my diploma etc. Here are some simple tips that i also did up to now.

    1. Go to bed the same time each night and wake up the same time in the morning also. If this is not possible do it step by step. like tonight you're going to sleep 11 and wake up 8. Tomorrow night let's say 10 and wake up 7. until you noticed that for example by ten you get sleepy already or even earlier.

    2. Don't put t.v., computers, or turn off you're cp or put in a silent mode. dON'T EAT OR DO UR WORK AT UR  BED. so every time you see ur bed you feel the urge of getting sleep.

    3. Don't drink cola's or coffee two hours before sleep because they have caffeine that keeps you alive. Instead a milk or a chocolate drink will be better. But still drink this two hours before sleeping time so it will not disturb you at the niddle of your sleep just to urinate.

    4. If you can't slep don't force instead read a book, or smell a perfume or cologne (?). They say if you're focused, like on ur sense of smell alone, u did'nt tend to think problems or works and eventually u fall asleep.

    5. A mild exercise may help but again don't do it two hours before going to bed, or much better every morning.

    I hope theae can help you...Good luck...

  8. This is not an uncommon condition unless it is frequent. Sleep apnea is a consideration. Of course the accommodations of your sleeping environment is a significant concern - make sure it is conducive. The period prior to going to bed is a familiar problem zone - you need to

    avoid eating anything heavy or with caffeine content (etc);

    you need a "wind down" time and/or technique;

    you need to put your mind at rest and avoid thoughts of the difficulties of the day or tomorrow (techniques available)

    on occasion you may find melatonin, Valerian, chamomile, or Passionflower  helpful (and less harsh aftereffects that OTC drugs carry)

    For most an established routine helps in the above; putting on comfortable pajamas, brush teeth, saying nightly prayers and thinking of pleasant soothing things.

    According to many wives, s*x is a cure for insomnia in their husbands...maybe for addressing the above issues, but more than likely a complaint (grin).

  9. Hey!

    Try going to the 1st website below...its a sleep test that should tell you exactly whats wrong..I took it and it seems to be pretty good.

    Some things to help getting and staying asleep:

    1. Get yourself ready for sleep by relaxing a few hours before bedtime -- take a warm bath,or write in a journal or diary.

    2. Try reading before you go to bed, normally it makes me sleepy.

    3. As much as you can, try to stay in bed with your eyes closed, even if you are not actually sleeping. You will drift in-and-out of sleep even if you do not realize it. As a result, you will be more relaxed in the long run.

    4. Try doing a short jog or walk a couple hours before going to bed, it will help you to fall asleep.

    For more tips...go to the 2nd website...

    ~bye~
