  1. i have a friend that has like 4 cats and they all share one litter box..

as long as u scoop it once a day it really doesent matter how many cats are using it

    good luck!!

    :D

  2. if you have a big house, two for every level (one on one side, the other on the other XD). small house, two would do. one on each level. each cat should get his/her own litter box

  3. i have 2 cats...one box but i clean it daily

  4. I would say one litter tray of a medium size when the cats grow a little more a large size, scoop it every day and use litter freshener if you wish. i also clean my daily. my cats are a year old now and have never used anything other than the litter tray as long as you make sure they know where it is by putting them in there regularly when you first get them or the tray you should be fine.

  5. My answer is as many as possible!

But one per cat should be fine. Don't be surprised if they share or swap boxes or prefer one over the other, they can be fussy sometimes.

  6. i have two 4 year old cats that have only been mine for about a year but, whilst they have been living with me, they have both shared 1 litter box. They are fine with it, and are happy to share it as long as it is kept clean and there is no poo in it.

hope you find the answer to your question.

  7. Each cat is supposed to have their own box, so atleast two.  If you have a big house (multiple stories or something) you might want to put a litter box on each floor or something.

  8. No JUST ONE will do.

MAKE SURE TO KEEP IT absolutly clean though... or you will have problems.

I used one box for 4 cats but cleaned it 2 or 3x a day.

It's like you ... you don't want to go poo in a toilet that has a bunch of poo in it do you?  You flush ... so keep it clean and one will do fine.

  9. All vet sources, magazines and interent sources say one box per cat and if you have multiple floors, at least one of those on each floor.  So if you have 2 cats - two boxes on one floor and one box on another. Make sure there is at least 3-4 inches of litter in all boxes and you clean it out everyday.  This is not a hard fact.  I have four cats, and two boxes because of limited space- one on the screened in porch and one in the back room - but, we clean it out twice a day - before work and when we get home, I don't recommend that, but if you have the time and patience and cleaniness - go fer it.

  10. If they are siblings, they probably won't mind using the same box. But kittens don't have as much control over their bladders and bowels as adult cats do. Make sure there is at least 2, spaced apart, on each floor (if you have multiple stories).

  11. One, if you have a small house. I have two 9 year old cats. We have three levels, and he have a litter box on two levels.

  12. I would say at least two. Probably just one for you since you only have two cats. I have five(used to have six) indoor cats with only two litter boxes. Cleaned regularaly. It should depend on how big of a house you have. A bigger house requires more litter boxes.

  13. Depends on the space you have and if you are eventually going to let them be outdoor cats or keep them indoor.

I have two 10week olds and only have one box.

I bought a largish set yesterday with a built in litter sieve, two trays and a top box which is supposed to help brush off the litter when they jump out.  (2nd tray sits under whole box and you use it whilst cleaning the one you just sieved then put that one under!!)  It was only $15.99+tax from Petco and seems pretty good.

You don't need those horrid liners that they scratch up and stain with pee but can if you want still.

I do use worlds best cat litter too which clumps and can go down the toilet even if you have a septic, I also scoop out if I know they have been to make it smell less and make it healthier for two cats using the same box but if enough litter is in it shouldn't be a problem. (I sprinkle deoderiser every now and again)  You can just top up and it creates less landfill having to throw the whole stuff out all the time.

They do have hooded boxes and self cleaning ones which cost alot but thats your preference.  I did buy a small mat which helps get some of the litter from their paws and I do wipe them with wipes regularly.

One thing to think about though is if they have any worms / bacterial bugs etc.  Mine have roundworm and Coccidia which I am treating them for but its more of a threat to the spreading if they are using the same box (hence my anal sanitation above) though how you would make them use their own one I have no idea.

Hope this helps and sorry its more info than you asked but hope some is useful.
