  1. Hi Dear,

I would suggest simple solution which will save your time also,

Find out which directories is 2 Windows XP installed i.e c:\ windows d:\windows ,

How to find above ? open c:\\boot.ini  in notepad and see the locations.

now you know which XP you want , decide from one of the two entries,

once decided , just delete the directory of unwanted XP and also emove that XP entry from boot.ini file and you are done.

while deleting the other windows xp directory, please do this from XP which you want.

    then try installing Vista.

I think boot.ini may be read only so please right click and make it writable or you can use attrib command

    good luck with Vista :)

  2. Uninstall both and install a new one

  3. hey i am also facing the same problem.. but the complication is that in my case both XP are installed in the same drive and thats y i m not able to delete it... so if you find the way plz let me know....

    Thank u

  4. I'm guessing you have created a partition on your hard drive to allow you to install 2 versions of windows XP. You can get software like Partition Magic to delete on of those partitions, thus removing one version of windows!

  5. first boot with the help of one XP which u wanted, then format the other partition that have another XP or simply delete that another XP installed folder. then edit the boot.ini file from msconfig. try this
