I have two indoor cats, they have never ever been outside except to the vet which hasn't been for years. Can my cats get fleas and ticks without going outside?

  1. I agree with the first answer, just make sure you deflea them before the bugs multiply and spread!

  2. Yes, it is possible because you can track them in on your shoes or clothing without realizing it.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you see them scratching more than normal.

  3. yes, and usually if your cats get ticks and fleas, you will have bites too.

  4. Well, fleas and ticks are parasites, so they can't survive for long without being in the fur of animals. You can trail them into your house on your clothing and shoes. They find your cats to survive and reproduce, creating eggs and they multiply. You can check them by separating their fur on their necks and seeing if their skin looks red or irritated or different. Hope this helps! :D

  5. Yea i think so because they can cling onto your clothe and then jump on your cat

  6. They can get fleas or ticks without going outside.  My friend's indoor cat got fleas just from being on their screened porch every now and then.  You can also bring them in on your clothes or in your shoes.  And once they get a foothold in your house, it's an enormous headache to get rid of them.

  7. They can also get them from lounging in the windowsill of an open window.

  8. Yes, as you can bring fleas or ticks indoors on your shoes and clothes.  If you think they have fleas, feel the skin right above the tail on the back, and see if there are any scabs or little black flecks, as these could be flea eggs.  You could also turn one over and check its tummy area, where there is little hair, and if there are fleas, you could see them.
