there are two cords a yellow and a white running from my camcorder to the capture device through a usb to the computer, and it is only displaying video,

how can i get it to display video and audio? do i need a different cord?

  1. your description is somewhat confusing. are you trying to send live pictures to the computer or tape playback?

    for many older analog video cameras, the mic is not built in. you may need to attach an external mic at the camera in order to get audio on the white cable.


  2. Sound will be on the WHITE cord.  You may want to go to Radio Shack and purchase an RCA to MiniPhono adapter.  They look like this:

    Although this one shows 2 RCA connectors, you'll only use one of them with a monophonic device such as your camcorder.

  3. You don't need another cord. Just plug yellow to yellow & white to white. Your capture device software will take care of the rest.
