The first one is Kassie the 2nd one is Kali...

Any advice on caring for them?

I have also discovered that they are quite crafty little builders any advice on building materials besides toilet paper rolls and paper towels?

What should I give them for a treat? Don't say chocolate cause I know better.....

Is it OK to handle them?

  1. You can give them all sorts of stuff to put in the cage.  You can buy tons of chew sticks etc.  which are very important because their teeth never stop growing, so they need some way to control that.

As far as treats, yogurt drops are always a good treat for rodents.  I've never met a rodent that didn't like them.

I've listed a link to the Petsmart care guide for gerbils.  Which is very general, but I find to be very helpful for newer owners.

I also listed a link to the Petsmart treats that are sold for gerbils.  You can also use treats for hamsters or rats... just keep that in mind.

  2. Here is a website you can go to: http://www.gerbilcare.org/ Also you can go to google and type in gerbil care, it will give you a lot of info. I don't know what kind they are, sorry.

  3. Aww they are very cute! I remember when my boys were that tiny! Anyway, yes you can handle them. Be careful though, they can jump out of your hand, so handle them over your bed or something in case they fall and you can catch them easier.

You can give them anything cardboard and they will have a blast with it! That includes, paper towel rolls, cereal boxes, and any other boxes that are cardboard. No plastic though.

You can give them any treats from the pet store that says for gerbils. Mine love nutra nibbles. As far as around the house, you can give them small amounts of lettuce, carrots, and bananas sparingly :)

    I hope I helped!

Here is a good site about caring for them:
