I have two gerbils. They are in a cage together and were raised like that. They are bith losing hair and...?

are losing hair! are they dieing and they are also placed bby my 2 parakeets but they have played together b4?! so whats wrong?

  1. While they may get along, different animals have different diseases on them that could be potentially deadly to one animal and nothing more than an itch on the back to another.  What I'm saying is, your birds are probably okay, but are giving your gerbils some germ that is hurting them, but safe for the birds.

    So separate them!  See if things clear up.  It'd probably be best to keep them separate, just for obvious reasons, even though they get along.  

    Just typing in "gerbil hair loss" in google tells me it could be a parasite.  I would recommend you research your symptoms a little before consulting a vet because they don't give advice over the phone.. That really ticks me off.  That and they charge a lot. Expect a $40 office visit fee +$?? whatever it costs to get medicine for them!


  2. Call PetsMart.  They have been very helpful with my betta fish.  I have managed to save a few fish with their help.

  3. Gerbil can lose hair if stressed and in the wild are hunted by birds so you put bird with them and you are under stress because they frighten of being eaten

    Birds hunt Rodents don't put the two together or near each other
