I originally bought this pair of pigeons to breed. I have a 5'x5'x5' cage with a small box that is 5 feet high for them to nest. It's been over 1 year and no baby pigeons. Am I doing something wrong? Plus, the (male pigeon) is pecking the hen (female pigeon) by the chest and behind the wings. Most of the fur by the chest and behind the wings are gone and you can see the skin. The color of the male pigeon is white with a small color of black on the side of its wing and the hen is also white, but has black wings with black tail. The hen is more black than the male pigeon. Everyday I make sure there is water and food. I also provide straw in the nesting area and also by the food.

  1. both boys

  2. yeah i think they are both boys u hav to check in a pet store

  3. okay well,.... they might be g*y (no joke) or you might have two of the same s*x.... you could probably just try getting new pigeons.

  4. Well just give them more time or you can buy a new male or female.

  5. The other answerers are likely correct.  They are likely both males.  Now, PLEASE separate them  The agressive one is killing the other.  Get him away so that he can regrow his feathers.  Also, you mention food and water.  I hope you're also providing grit and/or a calcium source for them.

Here's the website for the American Giant Homers Club. Maybe one of the members will help you get a true pair and also with any other issues.  They are nice guys.  http://www.americangianthomers.com/

And again, PLEASE SEPARATE the birds.

  6. get another female
