I have two chinese hamsters (Chandler and Joey) Both 1 year old.

I saw another chinese hamster (Tompy) at the pet home and its owner abandoned it but they have not been able to find a home for it and it has been a few months (it is also 1 year old)

I thought about it and since i have a huge rotastak adventure zone + extras i think i can handle it.

I have another cage too (small) should i introduce this hamster gradually?

  1. Keep them in their own cage and put them next to each other. They'll sniff each other and get used to each other.

please go to my hamster site and tell me your hamsters name for one of my pages. The site is under construction. http://www.freewebs.com/louiethehamster/...

  2. of course you can get another but i wouldnt reccoment keeping any of them in the same cage. I had one that literally bit the butt off of the other one and it died. true story! it was sad

  3. u can put them together and let them sniff eachother and what not.make sure youre supervising them during the process.if they start fighting its best to keep them seperated. good luck!

  4. put the new hamster in the small cage and put it near the others. They will sniff but make sure you keep an eye on them. A lot. Hamsters do attack others. my friends' teachers' attacked each other

  5. i think that you should let them play with each other and still let them have their cages next to each other be careful

  6. Put it in its own cage next to the others and after the first week take all the hamsters out and let them play with each other. If you then decide to put him in with the others only have him in there when you are watching him. Never leave him in there at night as hamster are nocturnal and they are mostly awake at night, which could result in your other hamsters eating your new one. the best way to introduce the new hamster is to make sure your new hamster has peed and pooed in the cage he is in at the moment, then make sure there is pee and poo in the other cage, don't clean out the cages, just take your two hamsters out and put them in the cage that the other hamster has been in so that they get used to his smell and do the same with the new hamster leave them for a week and try putting them together in the big cage again only do this in the day time, if they get on try a night a so on.

I hope this works it worked for me!
