I have a nice, quiet house in a small town and my husband makes enough for me to quite working (I don't really want to yet, I only work part-time). I'm kinda young (early 20's). And I think I'd want to wait at least one year, maybe two. My kids are 5 and 9 months.

  1. You start by contacting an attorney or an adoption agency.

  2. start by being a foster parent.  share your love with kids who don't know the real meaning of love.

  3. Call adoption agencies in your area. Adoption is a wonderful way to have a family and you will end up with a very special family. i have one child by birth and two that were adopted. my son is biracial and we adopted him as a newborn and my second daughter was born in Russia. There are many, many options for adoption. Internationally? Domestically? Newborn? Infant? Older child? DSS? Fostering that leads to adoption. You can look into lots of options and learn which one suits you and your plans the best. Start with an agency and see how you like them. Find one that you like and are comfortable with because you will be sharing very special things together and will get to know each other well over a long time period. Good luck! Enjoy your children for now -- you have lots of time for adoption!!

  4. There are so many options in adoption and it is never too early to start doing research on adoption so that when you know you are ready, you will know how to proceed.

Also, check out local adoptoin agencies, so to some of their informational meetings and check into state and county adoption agencies.

A great resource for information adoption is www.adoption.com.   And, a site that gives you adoption information including the contact information for adoptoin agencies is: http://directory.adoption.com/browse/Ado...

    Good Luck!
