I have two lights that I want to wire to plug in rather than have switch that turns them off an on?

Is this hard to do? Where would I buy the materials needed?

You can buy lamp cords with a plug attached in many colors and lengths at you local home center and if it has an electrical dept, they can also tell you how to do it safely.

They have those new things they have out. I forgot what they are called, but they come with a portable light switch, and a plug in you plug the lamp into, then plug it into the wall.

You plug the light cord into the small box thing and put the light switch wherever you want it.

It's a whole lot simpler than rewiring everything

Why. But disconnect the two wires from ceiling, 3 if looped and earthed. Wire into  plug and hey presto you still have to use a switch to turn on and off the plug.

You will need to hire an electrician- ti do it yourself is tricky and if you s***w it up you could cause a fire- and any insurance policies you have will be void.
