Any suggestions on how to bond with my birds when there are two that are obsessed with each other?

  1. Well sure it's still possible to bond dear! But whether or not they will depends on you. You can't give up! My budgie was very abused and hated people, you couldn't walk 10 feet near the cage without her screaming. But she is a perfect princess now (7 years later). Loves hands, learning tricks, eating veggies, you name it! You can have a perfect relationship with these birds if you keep trying.

First, if they are shy of hands, I would hang a spray of millet in their cage, for a week.

Then I would start offering it in my hand. Some birds eat it right away, others take a week. Keep your hand still until they are comfortable with it. Then you can move it around bit by bit.

Once they are accustomed to a hand in the cage, get them used to perching on hands. Try to get them to crawl on you to get to the millet.Try putting 2" of millet in the middle of your palm so they have to step on your hand to get it.

When they are used to hands, all you need to do is say "step up" when they get on hands to get the food. Now extend a single finger between the millet and the birds (I hold the food between my middle finger and thumb). Repeat "step up" and all should be well!

I don't know how tame your birds are right now, but I hope this helped. I can also give you advice about the next step, taking the birds out of the cage, but that's too much for this post!

    I wish you well!
