okay i'm 16 years old and i have braces, i got them because my teeth were really gappy on the bottom cos i have two teeth missing, once the baby teeth fell out adult teeth never grew in their place.

i also have two peg teeth, thats what my dentist told me they were called, either side of my two front teeth, they are like really thick at the back and kinda slant outwards from the top,

i have braces on both sets of teeth and have had them on for nearing 2 years,

i should be getting them off soon and at my last dentist check up she my orthodontist told me to ask my dentist about reshaping these peg teeth,

my mum asked and my dentist said she didnt see what the problem was.....

this was really annoying because after like 2 years with braces i want my teeth to be as perfect as they can and i dont think i will be happy until these teeth are filed down...

i got my braces on the NHS and am on denplan with my dentist,

so if she isnt willing to shape them where can i go to get them shaped and how much will it cost?

  1. Try to find a picture of the way you would like your teeth to look.  Show it to both your dentist and orthodontist and ask if this is possible.  If not, ask what would be needed in order for your teeth to look like the picture.  You should not have to go through ortho and then be unsatisfied with the appearance of your smile.  If your dentist can't do the treatment, find a cosmetic dentist in your area.  It would be best to have a consultation before the braces come off in case some additional movements are needed to get the desired results.

  2. VICKY,

UNFORTUNATELY BRACES WILL ACTUALLY NEVER RESHAPE THE TEETH AND FOR PEG LATERALS EITHER COMPOSITE OR PORCELAIN CROWNS ARE NEEDED TO GET THE PROPER TOOTH ANATOMY.
