you can connect both phone lines to the same wiring... use blue/white for one line and orange/white for the other line (older wire green/red and yellow/black)

you can connect both lines to a 2 line phone..

you can order DSL service on one line... (most businesses use the fax machine as there DSL number)

before there was DSL there was a short period of time where there were modems that used 2 phone lines to get faster dial up speeds.. they are probably hard to locate.... but you can connect one of them to your lines...

you can connect a call diverter, so when you dial into one line, you can get a dial tone and dial out on the other line... this is good to turn one of those cell phone plans that allow you free calls to your house phone into basically an unlimited minute cell phone...

there is much more you can do with 2 lines...
