  1. They are called many names: hip scarves, hip belts, belly dance skirts, coin skirts, etc. You can get them at on line belly dance specialty stores.  Or you can get them on ebay.  Some costume shops even carry them.

It all depends on what you'd like.  They come in various colors, lengths, and designs (like pyramid zig zag, straight, round/triangle cut, etc).  They come in various fabrics as well including velvet, chiffon, spandex, crochet, etc.  I find the chiffons look beautiful but velvet & crochet stay in place better.  Make sure the ties are long enough to fit your frame (I've gotten a skirt before that I ended up having to safety pin together because it wouldn't stay tied).

Here are some good websites to look at:

    http://www.bellydancewear.com/hipscarves...

    http://www.thebellydanceshop.com/product...

    http://turkish-emporium.com/typesearch.p...

If you look hard enough, you can find some great deals ranging in the $15-25 range.  Then you can find some more elaborate/embellished hip scarves for higher prices up to $200.  Just depends on what you'd like.

    Hope this helps!

  2. eBay.  - "belly dancing hip"  it is called a hip scarf or a hip belt.

I have bought a few - and I got the best price on eBay (vs stores, fairs, etc.)

prices start at $8 + shipping.  Chiffon tends to slip - velvet is good for clinging to the hips
