1. I'm coming to Ireland in 9 days!! woohoo! I have a ton (at least 6) of friends to get souvenirs for. what is a good one to get that isn't very expensive? I want to get something that is useful and not just a nick nack/ paperweight.

2. What types of women do Irish men typically like? For example American men tend to like thin blond girls with big b***s. haha is it the same there is Ireland?

  1. If you go into any discount shops in Ireland you will get lots of traditional souvenirs, very cheap aswell.

I think that all men the world over prefer skinny blondes with big b***s. But we would love Brad Pitt type men aswell. I think maybe though we don't have as many 'jocks' here are ye do over there.

Really sorry but we tend to mock the American accent, in a bad way like. Sorry :(

SLIPSTREAMER: Bit touchy aren't you. I have travelled to different parts of America on many occasions and of course I know that there are different accents. But you also know that there are many different Irish accents YET Americans still mock us using the silly Irish accent of long ago like 'top of the morning to ya' and all. That's ok it doesn't bother me. You will be glad to know I can also tell the difference between Americans and Canadians. Its so obvious.

And if you think I was being mean cause we mock the American accent in a bad way then you really would want to lighten up a bit. Suppose you've never tried to do a French, Aussie, New Zealand accent before and did it badly!!

  2. there is a chain of gift stores called 'carrolls' who have a store on nearly every street! they have a huge range of gifts at various prices.

as for questions 2+3.others have answered them for you!!

  3. hi you

firstly may i wish you a good stay here in ireland when you come on the gife side of thing you would be best just waiting till you come for that and you dont know how glad you made me by saying not a nick nack or paperweight

believe me when i say that we irish men  have more or less the same as the men over there

and for the 3rd part of your question we find it very s**y even more s**y then the others you said in your question

i will end by saying this is not a come on as more then lightly we wont be meeting up and if we do i say i would be a little to old for you and your friends

  4. 1. the Guinness souvenirs are really cute and there are loads of them... bottle openers, mugs, clothes, and much more with the Guinness mascottes on... or posters of the old Guinness ads. They wouldn't be too cheap but they're nice and not too expensive either.

    2. Southern European looking girls. A lot of Irish girls are blondes with big b***s so they tend to go for the different looking ones (but they don't mind big b***s, don't get me wrong!)

    3. I mean no offense but... the American accent is universally considered annoying.

  5. Answering your first question: you could buy them small traditional Irish musical instruments, eg. a Bodhran (the Irish drum, a typical one costs around 40EUR), tin whistle (About 10EUR). If you want to spend a little bit more, Waterford Crystal is your best bet - it is expensive though but you can really get some beautiful stuff.

Irish literature is great too, and I'm not talking just James Joyce here. Check out some poetry, Patrick Kavannagh, Seamus Heaney, W.B Yeats are the most famous. Also some Irish writters too - I'm really into Roddy Doyle at the moment, but he uses the Dublin vernacular a lot.

I hope I gave you a few ideas. As for your second and third questions: as I like to say "Different strokes for different folks,"

    :)

  6. 1-postcards are great souviners, and cheap. you can even write personal notes in them.

    2-idk, i'm a woman hahaha

but i think it should be whats on the inside, not outside

  7. Hi there -  fellow American who has traveled to Ireland -  The best place is an information point (center) that is ideal for getting small gifts (on Suffolk St, Dublin), and the gift shop at Trinity is also good.  There are a few things that are interesting amongst the usual t-shirts etc...You can get small items there and little foodstuffs that travel well and are a nice useful gift. Avoid the Temple Bar gift shop, it is full of very impersonal items that are fairly useless. I always bring certain friends books as gifts, bookshops are everywhere. If you are shopping for men - go to the Guinness Storehouse gift shop. As you say though - who needs any more dust gatherers or paperweights?

I think all men like thin blonde girls with big b***s! (haha :)

Some people like the American accents - people are interested in differences anywhere you go really. Not all accents are great though - you'll see. I won't go into detail as so not to be rude. Irish ones generally are. I depends on what they are saying though, an accent is just that.

    Have a great time.

Edit - Too bad Brad Pitt has an American accent then, hmm? Just as someone in Cork sounds different from someone in Belfast - American accents vary, there isn't just one "American accent" just as there isn't only one "Irish accent".  If one actually visited the US instead of watching it on TV, and traveled around a bit , this would be obvious. Most Europeans can't tell a Canadian and an American apart either.

I hope you only run into nice non-judgmental people on your trip. Sad to say the "friendly" Irish stereotype is being replaced by the "mean" irish stereotype here in the US.
